The Atlanta Falcons had the 37th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft on Friday night, and with that second round pick they drafted Minnesota Golden Gophers defensive tackle Ra’Shede Hageman. It addresses a need for the Falcons but also set an interesting record.
This is the furthest a draft has ever gone without a team drafting a running back, an unprecedented occurrence. The Falcons don’t necessarily need a running back with Steven Jackson and Jaquizz Rodgers. Hageman was a 2013 3rd team All-American selection by the Associated Press. He was a first team Big 10 player.
Hageman had 10 sacks and 24 tackles for a loss in his career at Minnesota, impressive stats for an interior lineman.

Below you can watch Sports Illustrated discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Hageman.
