NBA Rumors: Phil Jackson plotting a Kevin Love to Knicks trade
By Josh Hill
The saga of Kevin Love is taking another turn for the worse in Minnesota but the tears of pain from Timberwolves fans are tears of joy for fans in other markets who want to get their hands on the best power forward in basketball and treat him right. One of those markets is New York and we’re starting to hear more and more about how Phil Jackson wants to bring Love on and give him a home in the Knicks starting five.
According to the New York Post, Phil Jackson is plotting a trade that would land the Knicks Kevin Love and he could be using it as a selling tool to keep Carmelo Anthony in town.
The biggest problem the Knicks would have in acquiring Kevin Love is they can probably put together the worst of all the offers Minnesota will be getting. Phoenix has four first-round draft picks to play with, Golden State and Chicago have young players and expiring contracts to offer and the Lakers have a lottery pick to sweeten a deal.
New York has no first-rounders and the most valuable piece of their roster is a guy they’re trying to retain. Minnesota would have to be getting back significant pieces in a trade with the Knicks, which means someone like Tyson Chandler, Tim Hardaway Jr or J.R. Smith get thrown in some kind o package. But if the Zen Master thinks it can be done, he’ll do his best to get what he wants as New York is sounding more and more like an immediate landing spot for Love.
