Alabama is in a wait-and-see mode to see who will be the successor to AJ McCarron as the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide, but one thing is for certain and it’s that Parker McLeod won’t be the guy as he announced on Tuesday that he is transferring out of the program, according to BamaOnline.

The departure of McLeod leaves senior Blake Sims, junior Jacob Coker, sophomore Alec Morris, redshirt freshman Cooper Bateman and freshman David Cornwell battling it out on the depth chart with Coker the favorite to be the starter, although Saban stopped short of naming him the starter at the SEC annual meetings.
McLeod becomes the fifth quarterback to transfer out of the program under Saban and was a former three-star recruit out of Georgia in the 2013 class. With Coker having two years of eligibility remaining and both Bateman and Cornwell likely ahead of him on the depth chart, McLeod knew his opportunity to get on the field was going to be a daunting challenge.
According to his profile on 247Sports, the 6-3 signal-caller picked the Crimson Tide over offers from the Maryland Terrapins, East Carolina Pirates, Louisville Cardinals, Oklahoma State Cowboys and Boston College Eagles, among others out of Walton high school in Marietta, Ga. so those could be among the first places he will consider as he looks at potential transfer destinations.
Should McLeod decide to transfer to any of these programs or any other FBS program he will have to sit out the 2014 season per NCAA transfer rules. He will have three years of eligibility remaining once eligible in 2015, unless he transfers to an FCS program in which he could play immediately.
