Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White had been hoping to have a new contract in place with the team some time within the last month, however the unfortunate shooting death of his half-brother put those plans on hold for the time being.

Now, given the delay, the two sides hope to have something done by the time training camp begins, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
What Rapoport also points out is the fact that White could be looking to lock something in with the Falcons similar to what Brandon Marshall just received from the Chicago Bears which ended up being a three-year, $30 million extension.
"White could be looking at a deal in the neighborhood of Brandon Marshall‘s new three-year, $30 million extension with the Chicago Bears. However, Marshall is two years younger, which might not bode well for White’s overall value."
However, despite the slight age difference that could indeed put a damper on White’s search to land that kind of an agreement, Arthur Blank is one of the more loyal owners in sports, and has been a fan of White’s since he drafted him out of UAB in 2005.
Since then, White has been one of the most consistent players on the field for the 2012 NFC South champions. In his nine years with the organization, he’s amassed over 1,000 receiving yards six times and has barely missed any action on the field.
