Apple iWatch to have wireless charging

The iWatch from Apple has yet to be released, let alone announced. However, that hasn’t stopped rumors from swirling about its existence and features.

The newest rumor making rounds involves how the device will charge. According to insiders at Chinese electronics maker Luxshare, the company has sent wireless charging coils to Apple to be tested and approved for inclusion in the smartwatch from Apple. The report also states that Luxsure is one of two companies being considered by Apple for the technology.

With Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference taking place next week in San Francisco, it shouldn’t be long before the company finally announces the long-awaited iWatch. Then again, the company could just hold off on the announcement until a stand alone event to be announced later in the year.

Fans will just have to wait and see what Apple will do starting June 2 when the WWDC gets underway. Apple will be livestreaming the keynote speech on Monday starting at 1pm ET.

Mike’s Musings: The idea of wireless charging is something I can’t wait to see become uniform on all mobile devices. While you’ll likely always need to have a plug around to put into an outlet, not having to plug the device directly into the wall is a long time coming.
