For the second straight year, the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs will be meeting in the NBA Finals. Last year’s matchup was an epic series, going down to the wire in Game 7, and only getting to Game 7 thanks to Ray Allen’s clutch three in Game 6.

More from LeBron James

It was as even a series as we’ve ever seen in the Finals, and now the two squads are back for more. LeBron James and company are looking for their third straight title, while Tim Duncan and Gregg Popovich are looking for their fifth together.

With the closely contested series last year and a whole year for the Spurs to brood about their narrow defeat, we’re getting what everyone–especially the Spurs–wanted: a rematch.

Talking to reporters today, LeBron made some interesting comments.

It was interesting to hear LeBron say that, especially in regards to the mild-mannered Tim Duncan, who usually doesn’t say much of anything.

Whether or not the Spurs actually dislike the Heat doesn’t really matter, however, as it is sure to be a great series either way. It might not live up to the brilliance of last year, but if it comes anywhere close, then we’re all in for a treat.

Game 1 doesn’t tip off until Thursday, though, so we’ll have plenty of time to talk about the underlying story lines in this matchup.
