This year, the 2014 MLB All-Star Game will be held at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota. That certainly is reason to celebrate for the state of Minnesota. It will be the first time in the stadium’s short four year history that the All-Star game will be held there and the first time since 1985 at the Metrodome that the Mid-Summer classic will be held in Minnesota.

More from Minnesota Twins

Despite the enthusiastic atmosphere that will no doubt be in effect in Minneapolis, Major League Baseball may have jumped the gun in celebrating Minnesota’s baseball accomplishments. It was revealed by Eric Stephen of True Blue LA that a Tony Oliva bobblehead will be given out to fans during a Monday Fan Fest.

Bobbleheads are no doubt the biggest collector item one can get at a baseball game these days, but perhaps MLB should have run the copy describing the Tony Oliva bobblehead by an editor. You see, the Minnesota Twins did not win the 1994 World Series. In fact, nobody won the 1994 World Series. The Fall Classic was cancelled that year due to the Players’ Union Strike. Furthermore, the Twins would not have even been involved in the World Series at that time, as the Chicago White Sox were the AL Central Division leaders at the time the season ended and the Cleveland Indians would have been the Wild Card entry. The Montreal Expos and New York Yankees held the best records in their respective divisions.

The Twins in 1994, ended the shortened season fourth in the AL Central with a 53-60 record. The only three years that the Minnesota Twins can celebrate as World Series Championship seasons are 1924, 1987, and 1991.
