For right now, we’re not completely sure that Johnny Manziel will play a down for the Cleveland Browns in his rookie season this year. Even if he does, we’re also not sure how good he can be, just like every other rookie that will step onto the field for the first time this September.

Because of this, when the betting in Las Vegas opened for the 2014 NFL MVP award, Manziel opened up as one of the biggest long shots at 500-1. But, what has happened since the betting opened is a little intriguing.
After taking a few lucrative bets on the matter, Manziel’s odds to be recognized as the most valuable player in the league in his first season actually lowered to 200/1.
Of course, to think that it’s completely impossible for Manziel to win the MVP might not be the best course of action.
He’s already one of the most polarizing figures in the league without even playing a down. If he should shock a lot of the doubters and be the man under center to finally lead the Browns back to a playoff appearance, he’ll already have the media hype surrounding him to give him some added leverage in the voting process.
On the contrary, could the huge media hype hurt him with some of the voters? Of course it could, but it’d be fun to watch play out, wouldn’t it?
