Report: Flip Saunders hired has Minnesota Timberwolves head coach
By Josh Hill
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been looking for a head coach to replace Rick Adelman but their search has come up generally empty. Despite having names out there like Mark Jackson, Lionell Hollins and others, the Wolves have come up cold on their hunt for a new coach and they’ve decided to just look inside their own front office to find the man for the job.

There had been rumors floating that should the Wolves struggle to find a head coach, Flip Saunders would just take the job as he knows the position, knows the team and apparently still has a desire to coach in the NBA.
According to the AP, Flip Saunders has agreed to take the Wolves head coaching job in a move that may divide fans down the middle.
This is a bit of a tricky move to read as it can be interpreted in a number of different ways. On the one hand, Saunders has coached the Wolves before and was their most successful coach in franchise history, helping to get them as deep as the Western Conference Finals over a decade ago. But on the flip side, his hiring comes after a failed attempt to find anyone else to do the job which can be read as Saunders throwing up his hands and saying ‘well, I’ll just do it myself then’, which is hardly motivational.
Still, the idea for the Wolves is to get better right now and Saunders isn’t a bad head coach. The question is can he get Kevin Love to stay or will he lose him like he lost Kevin Garnett and cast another dark period on this Wovles team that needs something to stay positive about.
