The winning streak has been the result of good play all around, but especially thanks to the fact that the Royals’ lineup has finally come to life. By finally producing some runs, the Royals have been able to enjoy the benefits of having a strong pitching staff and good defenders in the field.
That’s why the Royals have been a popular pick for the playoffs the last few seasons, after all. Their ability to prevent runs means that they will have a great chance to win more close games.
In the outfield Kansas City has guys who cover a ton of ground and make spectacular plays. That was on display on Monday night as center fielder Lorenzo Cain stretched out for an incredible diving catch to rob J.D. Martinez of extra bases and keep the Tigers from mounting a rally.
This game got more exciting than the Royals probably would have hoped, as they held on late for an 11-8 victory. That only made this play from Cain that much more important.
