While we don’t know what LeBron James potential free agency plans are, there appears to be a distinct possibility that James will opt-out of his contract with the Miami Heat.

Speaking to ESPN 850 WKNR’s ‘Really Big Show’, respected reporter Brian Windhorst (who covered James in Cleveland before following him to South Beach) suggested that he feels James is ‘strongly considering‘ opting-out of his deal with the Heat, making him an unrestricted free agent.
“I get a feeling that Lebron is seriously considering opting out of his contract with Miami.”
Normally this wouldn’t be huge news, but given the source it has a bit more merit than the vast majority of reports.
Of course, James opting out doesn’t mean he’s leaving the Heat in search of a new team, but rather is simply seeking a new contract.
As for a potential return to the Cavaliers, Windhorst suggests such a move is unlikely as James isn’t thrilled with the prospect of playing for a team who still will need a few years to have their young talent mature nor is he excited about playing with a ball dominating point guard which the Cavaliers have in Kyrie Irving.
If there was a silver lining for Cavaliers fans however it was the admission that Windhorst, speaking on ESPN Cleveland, stated he did believe that Cleveland is home to James and one day he would likely prefer to return though that time doesn’t seem to be in the present.
There was no suggestion of what James plans after opting-out, assuming that’s the choice he makes.
