Ohio State received its second commitment in as many days for the 2015 class with four-star defensive end Dre’Mont Jones (Cleveland, Ohio. St. Ignatius) giving his verbal commitment to the Buckeyes.

The 6-5, 250-pound Jones is the nation’s No. 299 player regardless of position, the No. 12 strong-side defensive end and the No. 15 player in the state of Ohio, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Ohio State was one of the first to offer the talented defensive end in February and picked the in-state school over offers from Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame and Kentucky,  among others.

Jones follows Nick Conner who committed on Tuesday evening as four-star defenders to give their commitment as the Buckeyes begin to climb the recruiting class rankings and now own the nation’s No. 28 class and the fifth best class in the Big Ten conference.

Ohio State now has eight commitments for the 2015 class that is expected to swell up to 20 between now and national signing day on the first Wednesday in February. With head coach Urban Meyer considered one of the best closers on the recruiting trail, it would not be a surprise to see Ohio State finish about 20 spots higher in the rankings come February.

Five of Ohio State’s top seven ranked recruits are all from the defensive side of the ball as the coaches make a concerted effort to build up that unit after what could be described as not-your-typical-Buckeyes defense that last two seasons.
