Lodge is the nation’s No. 35 player regardless of position, the No. 4 wide receiver and the No. 6 player in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The 6-2.5, 190-pound receiver is the 16th commitment for Kevin Sumlin’s 2015 class and the third five-star recruit joining Daylon Mack (Gladewater, Texas. Gladewater) and Kyler Murray (Allen, Texas. Allen) for the class that 247Sports ranks as the nation’s No. 2 class, trailing only their SEC west rival, the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Lodge committed to Texas A&M over offers from LSU, Baylor, Texas, USC, Alabama and Auburn, among others.
Blessed with great size to take advantage over smaller defensive backs, Lodge should be able to make an immediate impact when he sets foot on the College Station campus and although he doesn’t have the bulk of former A&M receiver and top-10 pick, Mike Evans, Lodge has the ability to box out defenders and high-point the football and be a tremendous weapon in the red zone.
Adding Lodge to the wide receiver group that already includes former blue-chip recruits Ricky Seals-Jones and Speedy Noil and with last year’s No. 1 pro-style quarterback Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray will have no shortage of weapons to put up gaudy statistics in this high-octane offense.
Lodge recorded 72 receptions for 1,255 receiving yards and 22 receiving touchdowns last season as a junior. He has been invited to The Opening laster this summer to compete against fellow elite high school recruits on the Nike campus in Beavertown, Oregon.
