Anthony Barr started out at UCLA playing running back and switched to linebacker, becoming a top-10 draft pick despite the rawness of his game. Point being, this guy is a tremendous athlete.

But despite his athletic skills, there are some basic things Anthony Barr still has not mastered. For instance, catching a baseball with a glove. He’s still got some problems with that.

Barr and new Vikings teammate Jerick McKinnon hung out at Target Field before Saturday’s Twins game, giving Barr a chance to show off how bad he sucks at baseball. Barr also failed miserably in a home run hitting contest with Twins mascot T.C. Bear.

In Barr’s defense, yesterday was the first time in his entire life he ever tried to hit a baseball or catch a baseball with a glove. So I guess we can excuse his complete ineptitude in those particular areas.

And it’s not like it matters if he can catch a baseball or swing a bat. The Vikings don’t need him to make diving stabs at short or knock in runs with doubles to the gap. They need him to get after the quarterback.

I’m sure he won’t have the same problem holding on to potential interceptions that he did holding onto the baseball while playing a casual game of catch.
