You might think Yasiel Puig disrespects baseball or doesn’t play the game the right way, but there is no question that he knows how to tip his cap when the opposing team makes a great play. The controversial Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder showed as much when Kansas City Royals’ center fielder Jarrod Dyson robbed him at the wall on Monday night.

Into the late innings of this game and the utterly mediocre Jeremy Guthrie was out-dueling the outstanding Zack Greinke of the Dodgers. That was thanks, in no small part, to the defense that Guthrie was receiving behind him. This play by Dyson was the flashiest example of that fact.
After they followed a long winning streak with a four game losing streak, the Royals are trying to prove that they can be consistent over the course of the grind for the rest of the summer. If you want to make the case in favor of the Royals, you very well might start with their ability to prevent runs. They play good defense and they are mostly able to shut games down late thanks to their bullpen.
As for one of those more spectacular defensive plays, check out this snag from Dyson followed by the helmet-tip from Puig.
