The college football season is just about two months away, and one of the opening weekend match ups that has a lot of people intrigued is that between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the West Virginia Mountaineers, both of whom do not have a starting quarterback set in place.
Well, for the Mountaineers, that all changed on Tuesday as head coach Dana Holgorsen announced that senior Clint Trickett will be getting the start for West Virginia when they take the field against Alabama.

As Feldman pointed out, we could now be headed toward a battle between two former Florida State backups. While Alabama and Nick Saban have not formally named a successor to AJ McCarron, it’s very much expected that Jacob Coker will earn that honor, now that he has transferred in from Tallahassee.

Trickett did see action in eight games for the Mountaineers last season, throwing for 1,605 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.
He was able to win the job despite missing spring practice after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, but as Holgorsen pointed out, Trickett is 100% and ready to lead this team.
“Clint is 100 percent healthy and is ready to play,” Holgorsen said in a school release. “He worked hard last season and showed a lot of ability and leadership and deserves the chance to lead the team as a senior. He will be our starter.”
