For so long, NBA point guards where thought to be the quarterback of a basketball roster. They were looked upon to provide leadership and be the general of the team. But in recent years, we’ve seen point guards morph into hybrid talents that are more focused on scoring.

That appears to be how some NBA teams feel Dante Exum will develop as the Australian born talent is being told by some teams interested that he isn’t a point guard, this according to Scott Howard-Cooper.
Of course, at the end of the day, that doesn’t really mean much unless teams are actually going to attempt to convert Dante Exum to a shooting guard, which is not likely. However, given Exum’s skill set and his size, it’s very possible he could play the role of a scorer in the NBA and play a similar styled game to Tony Parker or Russell Westbrook who are just as good at setting up teammates as they are at putting the ball in the basket.
Exum was originally thought to be nothing more than a potential lottery pick in the 2014 NBA Draft just a few short months ago, but he has seemingly wowed teams with his promise and not only has he cracked the top ten, but the top five. There are some who believe Dante Exum could even be a top three pick now that Joel Embiid is likely to fall out of the first few selection spots.
Point guard or not, some team is going to be very happy drafting Exum on Thursday night.
