For weeks it was widely expected that the Cleveland Cavaliers would draft Joel Embiid with the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. However, Embiid’s broken foot has all but ended that scenario likely leaving a battle between either Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker as the player who’ll hear his name called first.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Reports out of Cleveland have suggested that the Cavaliers front office and ownership are torn on who to take between the Kansas and Duke products, but Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio believes the team is finally leaning towards one player.

Answering fan questions during his weekly Wednesday chat, Amico suggested that it was Andrew Wiggins who has taken the lead in the race to be drafted first overall.

“I’ve heard the Cavs are leaning toward Andrew Wiggins.”

Amico took a few moments before his answer, possibly to check on the situation but that wasn’t the only nugget he dropped as he suggested trade talks with the Orlando Magic involving the No. 1 pick were ‘very real’. He also noted that the Philadelphia 76ers, who own the No. 3 pick and were attempting to trade up, currently have no talks going on with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Of course, as we’ve seen before, that can change at any moment.

As for Wiggins, many believed he was the top overall pick before the emergence of Joel Embiid though it’s hard to believe the Cavaliers will go wrong either way as both Parker and Wiggins are extremely talented players who look like sure All-Star’s down the road.
