When Steve Spurrier isn’t on the golf course or thinking up clever new ways to troll his SEC coaching brethren or Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers, the South Carolina Gamecocks head coach likes to get in the gym and pump out a few reps.

Spurrier, 69, was spotted in the weight room by The Big Spur as “The Old Ball Coach” was working on his delts and pumping out a few shoulder raises.
No doubt this was in an effort to look much more trim and lean when he’s walking around Gamecock practices later this summer as he’s been known to do in the past.
Spurrier is beginning his 11th in Columbia and has led the Gamecocks to three straight 11-win seasons and three straight bowl wins, including last year’s Capital One Bowl win.
With 219 career wins, seven SEC championships and a national title on his resume, Spurrier has enjoyed quite the career after winning the Heisman during his playing days at Florida.
He is 77-39 in his 10 years running the show at South Carolina and shows zero signs of slowing down any time soon.
Maybe it’s the creatine or protein shakes he’s downing before hitting up the gym to get his lift on?
If you’ve been slacking off this summer and haven’t been getting in the gym as often as you need to, take a page out of the Old Ball Coach and get in the gym, because if a man nearly 70 years old can do it, what’s your excuse?
