When Microsoft launches its smartwatch later this year, it will be equipped with 11 different sensors, a report stated last weekend.

According to the website Tom’s Hardware, the use of the sensors weren’t detailed by the source. However, they could be used to measure various health details, including heart rate, if previous reports are to be believed.

The report from Tom’s Hardware also claims that the new piece of wearable tech from Microsoft will also include a mix of computer chips from Texas Instruments and Atmel.

Microsoft’s smartwatch will have a Nike Fuelband-like design. It’s going to be thinner and flatter than the Fuelband, but will feature a screen that will be on the inside of a wearer’s wrist.

The device will be cross platform — compatible with iOS, Android and Windows — and will include open API’s upon the device’s release. The interface for the API is said to be “pretty slick”, according to the report.

Microsoft’s smartwatch is rumored to be launching this October worldwide.

None of these rumors and reports have been confirmed by Microsoft, and the company has declined to comment on any rumors or speculation. An event to announce the watch is expected to come within the next couple of months.
