Wimbledon: Serena Williams forfeits doubles match after medical issue

The Williams sisters have had a rough go of things in tournaments recently with both Serena and Venus getting upset at the French Open and the duo now running into trouble at Wimbledon.

Serena and Venus were teamed up for a doubles match on Tuesday afternoon when a medical issue seemed to derail any hopes the sisters had of playing on in the match. According to ESPN, Serena Williams was visibly struggling during her doubles match with Venus and the sisters eventually fortified the match.

"Serena, who lost in singles Saturday, was given a blood pressure test by medical staff before the doubles match against Kristina Barrois and Stefanie Voegele even began as she struggled to hit shots and serves. Sitting in her sideline chair, Serena covered her face with her hands.The match began after a 13-minute delay and, with Serena serving in the third game, she was hitting serves that bounced before reaching the net."

It’s unknown just what was causing the issues with Serena but she was seen getting medical attention on the side of the tennis court after the match was forfeited.

This latest incident further highlights the rough year the sisters have been going through but it’s without a doubt the most serious issue yet. All previous trouble the sisters have gotten into have had to d with their game or being upset in matches, but this is something far more serious as Serena Williams’ health is now a factor and fans all over the world are hoping that this isn’t something that is as serious as it looked in real time.
