Hard Knocks returns to HBO in exactly one month as the best reality show on television will feature the Atlanta Falcons and there figures to be no shortage of intriguing plot lines for the franchise looking to get back to the playoffs after a dismal 2013 season.

Training camp is sure to feature a number of hotly-contested position battles, rookies getting introduced to the NFL, free agents looking to make a strong first impression and players looking to avoid the dreaded, “coach wants to see you, bring your playbook” phone call.
HBO released its first preview video to get you even more excited for the show that has NFL fans all across the country counting down the days until it premieres on that Tuesday night on Aug. 5.
The show is so fascinating because it takes us behind the scenes and inside the locker room, a window to the NFL that fans aren’t privy to seeing. We get to see meetings with players and their position coaches, like last year when Hue Jackson told Orson Charles of the Cincinnati Bengals that he simply wasn’t playing well enough and he needs to get better or he’s going to be cut.
The relationships the players form during training camp are special, especially among the rookies, who are trying to mask their nerves and anxiety and are just hoping to make the final roster. The undrafted free agent success stories are my favorite part. Who doesn’t love a good underdog story, right?
I can’t wait to see how the revamped defense takes shape, the health of Julio Jones, how Jake Matthews fares in his first training camp and who the star of the show will be.
