One of the most intriguing NBA Rumor possibilities heading into free agency was the idea of Carmelo Anthony leaving the New York Knicks and heading to the Miami Heat to play with LeBron James and Co.

The potential of such a move happening has worsened over time, as it has seemed Carmelo’s top priority in free agency is money and the Heat certainly were never in a position to offer him very much of that if they were to retain the Big Three. To even have a chance at Melo, Miami would need Chris Bosh to sign elsewhere to free up enough cap space.
Regardless, it appears the Heat aren’t really in the mix for Melo, as Adrian Wojnarowski reports Carmelo hasn’t even been able to get LeBron on the phone, among other things.

On top of LeBron and Melo’s lack of communication, Frank Isola of the New York Daily News is reporting Carmelo will head back to the Knicks.
Isola writes:
"A person close to Anthony told The News on Wednesday that barring a last minute change of heart Anthony will re-sign with the Knicks after “agonizing over this” for the past week.“He will have something for everybody on Thursday,” said the friend who was with Anthony before Anthony’s scheduled workout with Kevin Durant and Kevin Love in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “He is really torn because this is the biggest decision of his career. But he wants to get it done in New York. He told me he believes in Phil.”"
While it would have been exciting to see, a Melo-LeBron partnership simply isn’t in the cards.
