The Houston Rockets understandably don’t want to let Chandler Parsons walk in free agency unless they were able to sign either LeBron James or possibly Carmelo Anthony. Neither is likely to happen, which means the Dallas Mavericks – who have shown strong interest in Chandler Parsons – are going to need to come up with a creative offer to lure the small forward away from Space City.

More from Dallas Mavericks

A restricted free agent, the Houston Rockets will have the right to match any contract offer Chandler Parsons receives but according to Sam Amick of USA Today, the Dallas Mavericks are ‘determined’ to sign the small forward.

Of course, they aren’t the only team with interest as the Cleveland Cavaliers are also said to be intrigued by Parsons, however they view him more as a backup plan if they’re left at the alter by LeBron James. Given that, it would seem that the Dallas Mavericks may be the favorites to lure Parsons away from the Houston Rockets however it likely isn’t going to be very easy.

Both the Rockets and Mavericks have a significant amount of cap room though it remains to be seen how much either is willing to give up to sign Parsons, especially the Rockets who are said to be looking for an additional star to place alongside James Harden and Dwight Howard.

Regardless, it seems as if the Mavericks are going to do what they can to bring Chandler Parsons to Big D and hope the Rockets don’t stand in their way.
