Francisco Garcia rumors: Rockets, Nets, Jazz interested
By Bryan Rose
When the Sacramento Kings drafted Francisco Garcia out of Louisville, they had hopes he’d become their starting shooting guard for years to come. However, a rash of odd injuries derailed that thought and Garcia eventually found his way to the Houston Rockets.

Since that time Francisco Garcia has proven himself to be an effective though unspectacular bench talent who can play the point guard, shooting guard and small forward positions. That skill set has intrigued a handful of teams this offseason and according to Chris Haynes, the Brooklyn Nets, Utah Jazz and Charlotte Hornets are interested in signing the veteran. In addition, Garcia’s former team, the Houston Rockets are also said to be interested in re-signing the swingman.
There’s no doubt that Francisco Garcia is no longer the player he once was during his stint with the Kings and even during his early days with the Houston Rockets, however he remains serviceable and is known for playing tough nose defense. He doesn’t have what you’d call quick feet, but he’s still very active on the defensive side of the ball and can cause grief for the opposition. Given that and his expected relatively low salary, it’s easy to see why teams are interested in him.
Wherever he lands, Garcia should prove himself to be a solid addition and one that comes at an extremely fair price. He certainly isn’t going to be the star offseason signing, but he’ll improve the bench of whatever team that opts to sign him.
