The Minnesota Timberwolves have been hearing all summer long about how Kevin Love is going to be traded and has to be traded or somehow the Wolves are the worst run franchise in the history of professional sports.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

While they may not be run by the best in the business, the Wolves are looking pretty brilliant for hanging onto Love despite pressure to trade him before the draft. Experts blasted them for not cashing in on his value then but it appears there’s another opportunity to do so thanks to LeBron James.

As Chris Mannix from SI.com points out, the Timberwolves are wise to prefer waiting on a Love trade at the moment to see if another team comes along with interest and drives up his trade value and the team’s asking price.

Right now the Cavaliers are starting to take over the Golden State Warriors as the leaders in landing Love, but where the Dubs want Love as a centerpiece, the Cavs want him as a pawn to land LeBron James.

There’s also still hope in Minnesota that Love can be retained after this upcoming season, much like the New York Knicks have held out hope on Carmelo Anthony re-signing with them this summer.
