Chandler Parsons rumors: Mavericks want sign and trade?
By Bryan Rose
The Dallas Mavericks went into the offseason with hopes of potentially luring Carmelo Anthony to Big D. Such a move doesn’t appear likely, so they’ve decided to move on and in their sights has been Chandler Parsons.

The Houston Rockets restricted free agent has drawn heavy interest from a handful of teams but appeared to favorite the Dallas Mavericks and allegedly signed his offer sheet on Wednesday night. However, such reports have been questioned and now Mavericks general manager Donnie Nelson says no deal has been signed with Chandler Parsons. So why the hold up? Well, according to Nelson the Mavericks are attempting to engage the Houston Rockets in a sign and trade scenario which would allow Dallas to keep their cap space.
It’s a great move on behalf of the Dallas Mavericks front office as they’d not only be able to bring in Chandler Parsons but have a significant amount of money left over to sign another player. Of course, the Houston Rockets probably don’t want to waste their cap space on what the Mavericks have to offer.
There hasn’t been any mention of the players that could be involved in a sign and trade scenario (outside of Parsons, obviously) though the Mavericks do have some expiring contracts that could be of interest. Still, it would take more than that to intrigue Houston, making a deal between the two sides unlikely.
According to Nelson, the offer sheet will likely be signed at some point tonight assuming there is no sign and trade deal in place.
