The San Antonio Spurs don’t need any additional help after winning yet another NBA Championship, but if Tony Parker gets his way – they may get it. The French point guard has known fellow European Pau Gasol for quite some time and has envisioned playing with the power forward on more than one occasion.

Thanks to Gasol being a free agent such is a possibility and apparently Tony Parker let his interest be known to Pau Gasol, suggesting that he informed his friend that he’d like to play with him.
Speaking to Marca.com, Parker expressed that the two had had conversations before and there was talk of playing together. Of course, Tony Parker knows it’s a business and Pau Gasol will have to pick the best situation for him, but he seems to think that might be on the San Antonio Spurs (rough Google translation).
“I’d love to play with Pau and I’ve told him. Everyone would like to play with him, he is one of the best,” said Parker. “If he doesn’t choose us, we’d continue being friends and go to eat dinner with a good wine like usually do. I can’t comment on anything more that we talked about.”
If there is any team in the league that could hide Pau Gasol’s defensive inefficiencies, it would be the San Antonio Spurs. Still, with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers all in pursuit of the veteran big man, he has a difficult choice ahead of him.
