Say what you will about the off-the-field exploits of Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, but when he’s not in Las Vegas for Memorial Day weekend, riding an inflatable swan or imbibing at some nightlife establishment, the 2012 Heisman winner is dedicated to his craft.

Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins didn’t see the party boy when the two were at the team facility for offseason workouts and said the rookie out of Texas A&M was “all business”
“Johnny’s all business, man,” Hawkins told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Friday. “I can’t speak for all the other stuff because all I know is the Johnny I see in his playbook all day and trying to learn the plays and pick up an NFL offense, which is extremely hard for anybody, much less a guy who left college early. He worked his butt off, and I think that is all you can ask of him.”
Thankfully training camp is only a couple weeks away and the off-field exploits of Manziel will stop being a point of emphasis for NFL Network and others to fill time television and radio and we can stop focusing on things about a weekend getaway in May will impact Manziel’s ability to convert a 3rd-and-7 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers or Baltimore Ravens this season.
It will be great to see the competition between he and Brian Hoyer for the starting quarterback job with the Browns, but you already know if he doesn’t win the job, many will say it’s because he was partying far too much and isn’t a dedicated professional.
