It’s hard to imagine a team owner making a more blatantly obvious statement than the one made by Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor on Wednesday.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

The remarks, which were given in an interview with NBA.TV, were passed along by ESPN.

"“My preference is that Kevin will come to [training] camp — and I’m sure he will — and play with the team,” Taylor said."

Granted, it’s nice to hear if you’re a T-Wolves fan. But come on. It’s pretty clear that the team would be thrilled to have Kevin Love back on the floor next season, given he’s turned himself into arguably one of the best all-around scorers in the entire league – and in franchise history.

Love, who has said he wants a chance to win, given the Timberwolves have failed to do so in each of his six seasons there, has been linked to the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers during the offseason, but no deal has yet materialized. Taylor said that the team won’t just give Love away simply because he wants a change of scenery.

"“We are going to look at everything that makes sense that would make our team better,” Taylor told NBA TV. “But we are not going to move a superb player like [Love] without getting equal or more value back.”"

Last season, Love scored a career-high 26.1 points per game, while pulling in 12.5 rebound per contest. He also added 4.4 assists – all of which were above his career averages. He did all of this while appearing in 77 games – the most the former UCLA big man has played since joining the league six years ago.
