The Kansas City Royals are in need of a right handed bat and may have found a guy worth trading for down in Texas.

Kansas City has dipped back below .500 but that hasn’t stopped the team from sending scouts out to the Texas Rangers series against the Toronto Blue Jays to scout out a right-handed hitter who may be able to help get Kansas City the consistent performance they need.

According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, the Royals had a scout at the Blue Jays-Rangers game this past weekend and that likely means that the team is scouting outfielder Alex Rios to see if he can help fill the Royals need for right handed hitting.

"Rios has drawn trade interest from several clubs looking for a right-handed bat. Kansas City, which could use a right-handed bat, has had a scout at the Rangers-Blue Jays series. Toronto is reportedly also interested in acquiring another right-handed bat."

Rios sprained his ankle in the series though, which may or may not hurt his trade value to teams like the Royals or Blue Jays who are looking for the type of hitting that Rios can provide.

Either way, the Royals have undoubted interest in Rios as you don’t send a scout to a game unless you know you want someone who’s playing in the game.
