Cleveland Browns fans can agree that the late Art Modell is some kind of villainous figure to the city. After he whisked away the team in the middle of the night and drove them down the highway to become the Baltimore Ravens, where the franchise would win two Super Bowls, Modell wasn’t exactly hallowed in Cleveland.

Still, not every fan is going to agree on the proper response to their resignation toward Modell. Especially when it comes to an act of extreme disrespect like, say, peeing on Modell’s grave.

Deadspin posted a video made by a Browns fan who visited Modell’s grave in Baltimore undercover and used a catheter to surreptitiously urinate on video for all to see. The fan wore an Ed Reed jersey through the cemetery right up to the grave, where he then pulled it off in favor of a Browns jersey. There, hands in pockets, he slowly eased a number one through the catheter and onto the grass above the late Modell.

Judge it how you will, but that’s pretty much the lowest gesture one human can make to another, living or dead, so it’s probably not right. But there’s clearly still no love lost between Cleveland and Modell, as anyone looking for a scathing posthumous look at Modell’s history with Cleveland can start here and work their way from there.

Again, no one’s trying to justify anything, but if you take the fervor of your average Browns fan, add in some genuine devastation and a whole bucket of what ifs, then sometimes you’re going to come out on the other side with some pretty crazy actions. This one is just the latest, but certainly not the last, for the Browns and their fan base.
