Twins rumors: Minnesota open to trading Kendrys Morales
By Dan Zinski
Seems like only yesterday the Twins were making a big splash by signing free agent Kendrys Morales to lend their line-up some punch. Now the Twins have decided their season is headed south fast and they are looking for assets to trade, and Morales could be among them.

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Twins are open to trading Morales. The 31-year-old DH is hitting .240/.266./.333 with 1 HR and 18 RBI in 150 ABs. That qualifies him as something less than an enticing trade target.
On the plus side, Morales is currently on a 12-game hitting streak, so maybe things are looking up for him. Hitting streak or no hitting streak, Morales’ lack of power is alarming for a guy who has been a consistent 20+ home run guy for the past several years.
You are forced to conclude that Morales’ long wait to sign – he was a casualty of the qualifying offer/draft compensation mess along with Stephen Drew, as you recall – has affected his power this year. Maybe he gets the power stick going, maybe he doesn’t.
The question is, does some AL contender need an extra right-handed bad badly enough to take a chance on Morales, knowing he is useless in the field? Maybe the Royals could get him and platoon him at DH with Raul Ibanez. That would be…comical.
