Welcome back to “Off The Deep End”, where I will give you fantasy baseball tips on who to pick up in deeper leagues. For people who play standard leagues, drop/add columns are easy for you to find, but for those of you that love deeper leagues, advice can be harder to come by. That is where I can help. All of these players are available in 85% or more of ESPN leagues.

This time around we will do things a little differently. I will only do one position at a time, but I will give you advice on who to drop as well.
This piece will focus on the first basemen. The catchers are here.
Is this the start of another Dunn hot streak? Mandatory Credit: Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports
Add:
Adam Dunn, White Sox: Dunn has a homer and five RBI in his last four games. We all know he is prone to brutal cold spells, but the flip side of that is that he has hot streaks. Some of them last a while. He is worth picking up to see if this is the start of one.
Ben Paulsen, Rockies: Justin Morneau is on the DL with a neck injury, and Paulsen is getting first crack at replacing him. He has done well so far, going 5-11 with a pair of RBI. Might as well take a shot!
Chris Parmelee, Twins: He is by no means a long term option, but he is hitting .300 over the last two weeks. Counting stats could be hard to come by though.
Drop:
Garrett Jones, Marlins: He was good for most of the first half of the season, but now that he is not producing (.194 with 3 RBI in July), it’s safe to move on.
Jon Singleton, Astros: Everyone still loves his upside, as do I. If you are not in a keeper or dynasty format though, he can be let go. His first MLB slump has set in, and it doesn’t look like he will get out of it anytime soon. He is hitting just .164 in July, and has not homered since the 7th.
