The New York Yankees, unsure of how long Carlos Beltran will be able to play in the outfield (assuming he’s able to at all) are looking for additional reinforcements. One such player who has been linked to the Bronx Bombers is that of Matt Kemp.

However, it’s being said that the New York Yankees are not in on Matt Kemp – at least not yet.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are said to be willing to ‘kill’ to rid themselves of Kemp and the remaining $107 million dollars on his contract and few teams have a bank roll that could afford to absorb a portion of that deal more than the Yankees.
That said, even for the Yankees, that’s a ton of cash.
It seems safe to assume that if the Dodgers don’t cover a significant portion of Matt Kemp’s salary, the New York Yankees aren’t going to show much interest. However, if the Dodgers are willing to swallow a good chunk of Kemp’s remaining deal you’d have to think the Bronx Bombs would be much more open to a deal at that point.
Some have questioned Kemp’s ability to play in the bright lights of Los Angeles and hinted that he gets too distracted with such, which would be a major concern in the Big Apple. Still, Kemp has shown he is still able to produce at a respectable level and could be a solid addition to the New York Yankees if the price is right.
For now though, it appears there is nothing in the works.
