The NASCAR Sprint Cup season is starting to wind down but that doesn’t meant the action is going to be any less exciting than it already is. Jeff Gordon continues to race with a vengeance and it’s making the sport have the wider appeal it did when he first broke into the higher ranks of the sport back in the late 1990s.

Not only is Gordon beloved by NASCAR fanatics but he’s also someone that general and casual fans can not only recognize and follow but root for in more than one way. He’s had commercial appeal for over a decade now — pushing two — and his return to the top of the sport is something that is helping appeal.
But he’s not the only superstar in the sport, as the younger generation of drivers are starting to dominate more and more, forcing veterans like Gordon to take a backseat in the later stages of their careers. The Sprint Cup Standings have been updated to reflect that Brickyard 400, a race which Gordon won for the fifth time in his career, and Gordon remains king.
