One team that has begun to be mentioned more and more are the Cleveland Indians, who are looking like they’re going to be sellers at the deadline but haven’t yet settled into a firm stance.
Jeff Passan reports that one stance Cleveland has indeed settled in on is one that involves a willingness to trade veteran starter Justin Masterson before the deadline passes later on this week.
This isn’t really all that surprising as the Indians want to get younger in their rotation and Masterson is someone who could contribute rather solidly to a contending team. Cleveland being very willing to move on from Masterson and being able to actually do it are two very different things but the bottom line is that Cleveland is looking at trades and they’re starting to get mentioned as sellers the closer and closer we get to the deadline.
