The Seattle Mariners are trying to acquire Marlon Byrd from the Philadelphia Phillies but that’s something a few other teams are trying to do as well.

The Kansas City Royals are another one of those teams but the thing that the Mariners and Royals have in common are that they’re on a no-trade list for Byrd and he’s refusing to waive the clause for anyone other than the Mariners.
Ken Rosenthal from FOX Sports passes long word that the Royals are not an option for the Phillies veteran and there doesn’t seem to be any two ways about it.
Sources: #Phillies’ Byrd not option for #Royals. Talks remain stalled with #Mariners; Byrd will waive no-trade only if ’16 option exercised.

Rosenthal continues to point out that Byrd’s no-trade clause could be something that holds up potential or would-be deals with other teams as well.
Byrd has no-trade to four clubs: #Mariners, #Royals, #BlueJays, #Rays. He will not waive no-trade to SEA unless M’s pick up option.

It would appear that Seattle has the best chance of landing Byrd but that’s still an optimistic stance to take. The bottom line is that the Phillies want to dump Byrd but he’s not going to just be a part of some trade just to be a part of one.
