Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer got his NFL career started as a member of the New England Patriots and understudy for future Hall of Famer Tom Brady. Apparently that time has suited him well.

While speaking to the media, Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas spoke about Hoyer and said that there are some similarities between Hoyer and Brady.
There was no note on whether or not he said that with a straight face.
Thomas said that Hoyer is “a lot like Tom Brady” because of the way the two men demand the best out of their teammates and have a special type of competitive drive.
“When you look at the way he competes and the way he demands the most out of everybody around him, it’s no coincidence that those guys played together,” Thomas said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “[Hoyer] has a lot of those same mental attributes and that’s a great thing for a quarterback to have.
“He’s the ultimate competitor, and no matter if we drafted a quarterback No. 1 overall, I knew that in his mind he expects to win the job because that’s the type of competitor he is and the type of quarterback.”
Hoyer is currently favored to beat out first-round pick Johnny Manziel as the team’s starting quarterback, and if he is able to convince the Browns coaching staff that he is as much like Tom Brady as Thomas seems to believe then Manziel may never see the field.
