Over the last few years, the speculation surrounding the likes of LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade and their impending free agency hit new heights. The speculation around all for ran rampant once again this offseason but James is the only one who switched teams, leaving the Miami Heat in favor of a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

More from Kevin Durant

Although James can once again become a free agent over the next two years, the next player who will see endless speculation is Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant. Durant is not ignoring the fact that his free agency will be discussed at length.

“I’m going to do what’s best for me. It’s hard to talk about that right now when I’ve got 2 years left in OKC,” Durant said via Michael Lee of The Washington Post. “I’m not going to make a decision based on what anybody else does.”

A return to Washington, D.C. to play with the Wizards has been mentioned often with Durant and he isn’t hiding from those questions either.

“Everybody is asking me about it. Every time I go on Instagram or Twitter, all my friends ask me about it,” Durant said. “I’m not going to sit here & act like I’m naïve to the fact that people think about that stuff…Look, I’m here in OKC. I love it here. Who knows what’ll happen? You never can close a door on anything, but I like where I’m at right now. I can’t answer those questions. That whole city is a part of me. It’s in my blood. I love going back home, seeing my family & playing there but I love OKC, too.”

Durant is still expected by most to eventually remain with the Thunder.

Durant averaged 27.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 50.3% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 87.3% from the free throw line during the regular season. Then, he averaged 32.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 46.0% from the floor, 34.4% from beyond the arc and 81.0% from the charity stripe in the postseason.
