The Colorado Rockies have no intentions of trading franchise shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, at least that’s what they’re saying publicly. But they’re not completely ruling out the idea, suggesting that if Tulo wants out, he needs to say it himself.

More from Colorado Rockies

The All-Star has yet to make such a request, though it’s safe to say that he’s not exactly happy with how things are going with the Rockies. Of course, that’s partially his fault for taking such an albatross of a contract, a deal which has handcuffed Colorado along with Carlos Gonzales’ contract.

So it seems as if Troy Tulowitzki will be remaining with the Colorado Rockies for now, though the team understandably doesn’t want to be caught off guard if the shortstop does come out and request a trade. That’s why they’ve been scouting multiple teams who are said to be interest in the infielder and have the bankroll to make a deal. Among those teams are the New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels and the St. Louis Cardinals.

"Oh, it’s not only the Mets. We hear the Rockies have beefed up their knowledge on the Cardinals and the Angels – two teams with the money and Major League-ready players to make the Rockies’ baseball people at least listen if they were to call – and a few other teams that may have interest."

Such a move isn’t an indication that the Colorado Rockies are ready to part ways with Troy Tulowitzki, though they need to be ready in case the reach the point of no return.
