Dallas Mavericks rumors: Rashard Lewis still a target
By Bryan Rose
The Dallas Mavericks didn’t lure LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony to Big D. Hell, they didn’t even scoop up Chris Bosh, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t have one of the best offseasons in the NBA.

From the trade of Tyson Chandler to the acquisition of Chandler Parsons, an already talented Dallas Mavericks team looks deeper and more gifted than before.
They also may be getting some bench reinforcements from Rashard Lewis, who the team originally offered a contract this offseason but then had it pulled after failing his physical. Despite that, it’s said the two sides both have interest in a reunion once Rashard Lewis recovers from his knee surgery.
Lewis isn’t much more than a role player on his best day at this stage of his career, but he’s still a serviceable vet who can come in and knock down shots. That’s really all you need from an end of the bench player, so it makes sense as to why the Dallas Mavericks would have interest in bringing him back.
Of course, the injury to Lewis has been relatively quiet so few know the severity of just how badly he’s hurt or even how long of a recovery he’ll need. Given that, there’s no timetable as to when you could see the Mavericks attempt to sign Rashard Lewis, though they’re obviously interested in doing so.
For now Lewis will wait and attempt to rehab and recover. At that point it’s fair game, though, it seems as if the mutual interest between the two will be enough to get a deal done down the road.
