In response to LeBron James heading home to the Cleveland Cavaliers, rumors are running rampant that Kevin Durant will possibly sign with the Washington Wizards, his hometown team, when he’s a free agent in 2016.

More from Kevin Durant

While Durant’s obviously not going to give too much away in regards to his future plans, he spoke about the rumors and didn’t exactly help put them to rest.

From the Washington Post:

"“We’re going to put it out on the table. It’s been talked about,” Durant said. “Everybody is asking me about it. Every time I go on Instagram or Twitter, all my friends ask me about it. So I’m not going to sit here and act like I’m naïve to the fact that people think about that stuff. But I just tell everybody, ‘Look, I’m here in Oklahoma City. I love it here.’ Who knows what’ll happen? You never can close a door on anything, but I like where I’m at right now. I can’t answer those questions.”"

It’s obvious that the Wizards are going to be enormous threats to steal Durant away from the Thunder. Not only do they have excellent young players in John Wall and Bradley Beal, it’s clear the 2014 NBA MVP has a soft spot for the city of Washington.

"“I grew up watching the Bullets, Wizards. I grew up taking the train to that arena, all the time, to watch Georgetown, the Bullets, the Washington Mystics,” he said. “That whole city is a part of me. It’s in my blood.”"

Oklahoma City needs to win a lot of games throughout the next two season to convince Durant to stay, because it appears, as was the case with James, the pull of playing at home is very real for KD.
