Crazy as it is to say, we’re just a few months removed from what will be the final homestand for Derek Jeter as a member of the New York Yankees.

More from MLB

Set to retire at season end, the legendary Bronx Bomber will play his final home games against the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles during an eight-game stint beginning on September 18th and ending on September 25th.

During that time he’ll be honored not only before the game but during it as well considering his New York Yankees teammates will wear a patch on their hat commemorating their team captain.

As you can see below, the patch will be the same style as announced prior to the season though the fact it’ll be worn on the field by Derek Jeter’s teammates will be a nice touch.

According to Alternate Uni, the Yankees will wear the special hat’s during their final home series at Yankee Stadium against the Orioles.

Of course, those won’t be Derek Jeter’s final games as the Yankees will head up to Boston where they’ll face the Red Sox in a three-game contest to finish out their schedule.

It’s still possible that the Yankees, who are currently in buying mode during the MLB trade deadline, could string together a strong few months and etch their way into the postseason considering they’re just 4.5 games out of the American League East. So Derek Jeter’s true final home game may not be in the regular season if the Yankees can make the postseason, though he’ll be honored come the end of the regular season regardless.
