In case you haven’t heard, the favorite to take over for AJ McCarron as quarterback of the Alabama Crimson Tide is someone that has actually just arrived on campus recently. Yes, Florida State transfer Jacob Coker is considered the front runner to win the starting job once camp is over, and it’s easy to believe why.

Well on Friday, he began showing everyone why, as he took the field for practice for the first time as a member of the Alabama football program.

And you can watch his debut as a member of the Crimson Tide by simply clicking here.

There’s a lot of hype surrounding this young man, and for the most part, rightfully so. This same time last year, he was heavily in the running to become the starting quarterback at Florida State, giving Jameis Winston all he could handle in the competition leading up to the season.

Well we all know how that turned out for the Seminoles, but that left one of the best quarterbacks in the nation with a decision to make, and he chose to come back home to Alabama once he graduated with his degree from Florida State.

After the poor showing by his main competition, Blake Sims, in the spring game, Coker basically just has to not screw up royally to keep his status as the front runner intact, and ultimately win the job.
