According to EuroHoops.com, just hours after Jusuf Nurkic signed his deal with the Denver Nuggets, he was declared a traitor by his native Bosnia and basically given a hex by his homeland basketball federation.
"Just hours after Jusuf Nurkic signed his contract with Denver Nuggets, he was declared a “traitor” by the Bosnian basketball federation. The player decided to leave the Bosnian national team training camp, saying he was injured after initially stating that he was tired."
It was initially believed that the Nuggets were going to have to wait before signing Nurkic to a contract but that didn’t happen as he ended up signing right away after the draft. That being said, the Bosnian Basketball Federation has a right to be upset with Nurkic and feel that he betrayed them, but to call him a traitor is a bit much for just a basketball federation.
