NCAA Football: Air Force Falcons unveil alternate uniforms
By Phil Watson
The Air Force Falcons are just the latest team in college football to reveal an alternate uniform for 2014.

The uniforms themselves aren’t too big a departure from Air Force’s traditional look, but those helmets are a thing of beauty.

The program did not announce during which game the new look will debut, but the Falcons have home games scheduled for Aug. 30 against Nicholls State, Sept. 27 against Boise State, Oct. 4 against Navy, Oct. 18 against New Mexico, Nov. 15 against Nevada and Nov. 28 against Colorado State.
Boise State—known for its multiple looks—would seem to be a natural opponent for the unveiling, unless they want to wait a week to throw the new look at their Commander-in-Chief trophy holding rivals from Annapolis.
Alternate uniforms are all the rage in college football, as uniform manufacturers try to out-do themselves testing new ideas or marketing successful ones.
But for those worried about signs of the apocalypse, take heart.
New coach James Franklin told StateCollege.com in April that he has no plans to introduce alternate jerseys at Penn State … at least not yet.
"“Are you trying to get me killed? Is that what you’re trying to do? Yeah, that ain’t happening around here,” Franklin said in response to a question about potential alterations to Penn State’s iconic navy-and-white look. “That’s not going to happen around here.”"
Former coach Bill O’Brien created enough of a shockwave during his first season in 2012 when he added names to the backs of the jerseys, after all, so it’s safe to say the world is not yet ready for a full-fledged Penn State alternate.
