Jameer Nelson wanted Mavericks to re-sign Shawn Marion
By Bryan Rose
The Dallas Mavericks had a tremendous offseason and some have suggested they have had the best in the entire NBA, outside of the Cleveland Cavaliers. It’s a legit thought given their additions which include point guard Jameer Nelson.

A former member of the Orlando Magiac, Jameer Nelson decided to sign with the Dallas Mavericks thanks to their winning ways though he did express some disappointment regarding his newest team. So what was Nelson unhappy about? Well, he wanted to play with Shawn Marion.
“I was definitely hoping that with Shawn [Marion] that his situation got resolved and he could be on the team, because me and him are good friends and my family knows his family. That would’ve made things and the transition a little easier.”
Dallas had expressed a desire to re-sign Shawn Marion this offseason but after the addition of Chandler Parsons, Marion would have needed to accept a very small salary and potentially even smaller role on the team. That apparently isn’t something he’s overly eager about doing and it’s believed that both he and the Dallas Mavericks have parted ways.
Of course, being Marion has still yet to sign, there’s always the remote chance that he could end up back in Big D if he’s unable to find a situation to his liking. Though that seems to be more wishful thinking as Marion, despite his age, can still produce at a solid level and shouldn’t have any trouble carving out 20+ minutes a game wherever he signs.
