The Indianapolis Colts were instrumental in helping the Cleveland Browns land Johnny Manziel in the draft this year, as their early season trade for Trent Richardson set up the draft day trade up that allowed Cleveland to move up and take the Texas A&M star.

Manziel is the talk of the NFL right now while Trent Richardson is still trying to get his footing with the Colts and earn his way to the top of the depth chart or into a meaningful role with the team. Richardson told the Indianapolis Star that he isn’t going to make public his official yardage goal for this upcoming season but he will say that it’s more than 1,000 yards.
"“A thousand is not the goal. For me, it’s personal. I’m going to keep it to myself. But a thousand is not it for me. It’s higher. … I can’t wait to be involved in the passing game, even if it’s just pass blocking. I’m trying to be a three-down back. It would be four if they let me play special teams.”"
It indeed seems like a lofty goal for a guy who barely managed to settle in with the Colts last season, not making much of an impact at all, but it’s nice to see Richardson motivated. He was essentially traded to the Colts for Johnny Manziel, which was the assumption at he time of the early season trade last year, but he’s still the former No. 3 overall pick in the draft and has upside that makes rushing for 1,000 yards seem like child’s play.
