There was no question about MarShon Brooks’ ability to score the basketball coming out of college, it was simply a matter of control. Could he stop with the ineffective, poor shot selection? The answer was no.

More from Indiana Pacers

Brooks, who was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 25th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft was quickly sent to the Brooklyn Nets where he struggled during his rookie season, often times finding himself stapled to the bench after an offensive miscue.

Things did improve during his sophomore season with the Nets, though MarShon Brooks clearly wanted to be the man offensively and that forced the Nets to reduce his playing time even further.

Let go after just his second season, it seemed as if Brooks’ tenure in the NBA was all but over. However, a injury plagued Los Angeles Lakers team desperate for talent decided to give his agent a call last season and offered him a spot on the roster.

He was still centered around scoring, though it seemed as if time off had done Brooks well as he emerged as more of an all-around player during his short stint in Hollywood. Alas, with the Lakers attempting to clear space space, MarShon Brooks was cast off again. He did however latch on to the Sacramento Kings summer league team where he impressed many and there were suggestions that he may be offered a contract by the Kings. They weren’t the only team with interest as the Indiana Pacers were rumored to be looking at Brooks after Paul George’s injury.

However, it seems as if Brooks could be spurning them both as he is reportedly nearing a contract in Europe.

"Brooks had been in dialogue with NBA teams before advancing in negotiations with Olimpia Milano on Tuesday night. For Brooks, the Italian club holds great appeal for its financial stability and opportunity to play significant minutes in a supreme overseas league."

From a money standpoint, it’s a no-brainer for Brooks though he may never have a better chance to create himself a spot in the NBA than right now. Certainly a tough call.
